Suzhou, known as Wu in the ancient times, is a national historical and cultural city and a scenic tourist city, a national high-tech industrial base, one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta city group, the central city of the G60 Science and Technology Corridor, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt in Jiangsu An important part of it is one of the first 24 national historical and cultural cities in China, and has the reputation of "Heaven on Earth".

Suzhou is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, facing Shanghai in the east, Jiaxing in the south, Taihu Lake in the west, and the Yangtze River in the north. Suzhou has a subtropical monsoon marine climate, with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. It grows rice, wheat, rapeseed, produces cotton, mulberry, forest fruits, and specialties include Biluochun tea, Yangtze River swordfish, Taihu silverfish, and Yangcheng lake hairy crabs.

Suzhou has a history of nearly 2500 years and is the birthplace of Wu culture. Suzhou has always been known for its beautiful landscapes and elegant gardens. It has the reputation of "Jiangnan Gardens in the World, Suzhou Gardens in the South of the River", and is also known as the "Oriental Water Capital" because of its small bridge and flowing water. Suzhou gardens are listed as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The Suzhou section of the Grand Canal in China was inscribed on the World Heritage List.
